EDUCATION & MEMBER BENEFITS
Education
The Education Committee is primarily responsible for planning and managing each of our chapter's Quarterly Education Meetings. Included in our duties are curriculum development, speaker and venue acquisition, obtaining CFP continuing education credits and coordinating all logistics to run the meeting. We interface with many other committees in our chapter to ensure that our meetings are educational, informative and fun. We strive to provide our members and sponsors with an experience that will keep them coming back.
Volunteer opportunities - The Education Committee is broken down into several sub-committees that are responsible for the various duties associated with planning our meetings. These responsibilities include: speaker acquisition and management, logistics, communications and technology. No matter your experience or interests, there are many ways you can help.
Why volunteer for the Education Committee? - If you enjoy the rewarding feeling of a job well done, the Education Committee is for you. The experience also provides the opportunity for learning and professional growth. Our meetings range from 200 to 250 attendees each quarter. As part of the committee, you will have the opportunity to meet (and possible work with) thought-leading speakers from all over the country. Our speakers range from the nationally recognized to presenters that are members of our own chapter. You may also coordinate with sponsors and interface with our own chapter members. Most importantly, you will have an impact on the shaping of future educational content that is delivered to our members. We welcome all volunteers and encourage feedback.
Member Benefits
The Member Benefits Committee designs and manages various programs that enhance the value of being a member of the FPA Orange County Chapter.
Responsibilities include:
- Monthly study groups
- Internships with local universities
- “Professor for a day” at local universities
- Chapter resource program
- …and much more in development!
This committee is ideal for people who want to network with other chapter members and offer general guidance on the direction of projects, or spearhead a particular project. We’re always looking for fresh ideas or new ways of improving existing benefits.
We need opinions at our quarterly meetings on which benefits are working well, which should be changed or eliminated, and what should be added. We have some particular ideas such as a mentor program and career day that we could use a team leader to manage. Your level of involvement is up to you!
If you are interested in any of the following areas: Attend Quarterly Meetings, Study Groups, Mentor Program, Career Day, whether it is in the capacity of a full committee member, part-time, or just as an occasional consultant, please contact Steve Kiernan, Director of Member Benefits.
